3. INTERACTIVE ORAL ON "MY FAVOURITE ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY/STATE"

The task:
1. Look for information about your country. Choose from the following aspects or deal with others you find relevant.
- Location, capital, geography, description
- History, landmarks, people and towns, stereotypes, important people, cinema, music.
* Health 
* Education/Religion
* Customs and traditions
etc.

* Important points as you will be able to use the information in your individual oral

2. Prepare a presentation to be shown in class. Be ready for the public's questions!

TIPS

1. Check speech and introduction to a debate (dossier and BLOG LINK) to include relevant language and register.



2. Use catchy visuals to attract the audience attention. Include some short audiovisuals as an example or to make your presentation clearer and more attractive.

3. Don't include only factual information. Give your opinion, make links with your culture and personal experience.

4. Try to be entertaining and original.

INDIVIDUAL ORAL MOCK (TASK)

We have already seen how to prepare for your individual oral and some examples about the topic we are dealing with in this first mock exam. Now it's your turn to work! Revise your notes and the examples.
I'm sure you are going to do a great work!!!

TASK

• Choose a picture about school uniforms/job uniforms/urban tribes styles/dress codes.
• Write the caption. 
• Prepare for the individual oral. Include all the areas of content asked in the instructions.

INDIVIDUAL ORAL (INSTRUCTIONS, EXAMPLES)

There we are already preparing for your individual orals. Have a look to the following notes about what you are going to do and how to prepare your first mock.

Individual oral is based on two of the options: Customs and traditions and health. It lasts 25 minutes including preparation time and counts 20 % of the whole mark.

PREPARATION (15 min.)

You choose one from two photos and prepare for your oral exam. You must cover the following aspects:
1. INTRODUCTION: Includes name, candidate number and a summary of what you are going to talk about.

2. DESCRIPTION of the picture giving the most important details, especially those relevant to the topic.

3. The CAPTION: you should relate the topic to the caption.

4. ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES: what's the relation with the culture we are studying?

5. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: how is your personal experience related to the topic?

You can write notes (10 short points)

PRESENTATION (3-4 min.)

• Oral presentation including all aspects above.

• You can use the working notes you have prepared before but use them as a reference, never read out!

DISCUSSION (5-6 min.)

• A discussion with the teacher based on your presentation. It's based on the topic but you can be asked about how it is related to other options studied (cultural diversity, leisure, science and technology).

The whole performance is RECORDED and TIMED.

Christmas is coming!!!
With Family meetings, good wishes and delicious food, Christmas is celebrated all around the world  but do you know the origin of this celebration or how is it celebrated in other countries? Watch the following videos and see how much you know about this "not-always-loved" festivity.

SESSION 6

Hi class!
Good morning you all!
After having our first split lesson and starting practising for our oral tests here we start with the activities based on the book.
The first topic we are dealing with is LANGUAGE. We are introducing the topic today first talking about the picture you have on page 1 and then working on the text on page 2: English- a Global Language? (Exercises 1,2,3)
As you can see we are commenting the picture but following an specific line, which will be what you should do in your Individual Oral test.
1. A short description of what can we see in the picture. Just to identify the topic and the context. There's a caption which we can't leave out. We don't mention it now but it helps to identify the situation.
2. Relate the picture to the caption. How are they connected? What's the meaning of the caption in relation to the picture?
3. Link it all to the topic (social relationships), to the target language culture (English speaking countries), to your personal experience. Express relevant ideas, give arguments!!!

Here I am, back again in Son Pacs after a whole week in Malmö. It's been a wonderful experience. Would you like to see some pictures? What about tasting some Swedish chocolate?
