SUMMER WORK

Dear students,
Here you have some help to deal with your summer work in English. Hope you don't hate me too much for giving you work during hols!

Check the tips according to the task you're actually doing.

1. KEEP UP YOUR ENGLISH AND/OR PREPARE FOR THE EOI

Have a look at this blog. There's an amazing amount of activities to practise for the exam or just to keep up your English during hols:

ENGLISH ON STAGE

The exam will be on the 2nd September at 16:00h

TIMETABLE:

USE OF ENGLISH- 16:00-17:00
WRITING- 17:00-18:15

BREAK- 18:15-18:30

LISTENING- 18:30-19:00

2. TACKLING IB WRITTEN ASSIGMENT

The task for this summer is:
1. Decide the topic of your Written Assignment. One aspect of the core topics: Social Relationships, Global Issues, Communication and Media.

2. Look for 3 sources you are going to use to write the task. Remember you need to include the sources in the work you'll give me in September.

3. Write the rationale.

TIPS:

1. Choose a topic you are really interested in and enthusiastic about.
2. Before starting, have a look at the class notes and this blog to "refresh" about how to write the rationale.
4. Use the checklist before and after writing the rationale. W.A. CHECKLIST

3. INTERACTIVE ORAL ON "MY FAVOURITE ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY/STATE"

The task:
1. Look for information about your country. Choose from the following aspects or deal with others you find relevant.
- Location, capital, geography, description
- History, landmarks, people and towns, stereotypes, important people, cinema, music.
* Health
* Education/Religion
* Customs and traditions
etc.

* Important points as you will be able to use the information in your individual oral

2. Prepare a presentation to be shown in class. Be ready for the public's questions!

TIPS

1. Check speech and introduction to a debate (dossier and BLOG LINK) to include relevant language and register.

2. Use catchy visuals to attract the audience attention. Include some short audiovisuals as an example or to make your presentation clearer and more attractive.

3. Don't include only factual information. Give your opinion, make links with your culture and personal experience.

4. Try to be entertaining and original.

4. FANCY SOME READING?

You may want to read some paper stories or online stuff. Here are some suggestions:

Online magazines:Upworthy
                                - Eonline

That's all my dear students but let me give just another tip:
